Early Mitzvah Day Event

Ham & High Editor, Andre Langlois and reporters Sally Patterson and Nathalie Raffray, together with Mitzvah Day founder, Laura Marks, visited the jLiving Scheme to talk about Mitzvah Day and answer questions about the paper and local issues.

The visit came about when journalist Sally Patterson contacted jLiving’s Communications Officer, Dawn Slagel, after talking to the team at Mitzvah Day. The Ham & High were keen not just to simply report on Mitzvah Day but to get involved themselves. So, Mitzvah Day founder, Laura Marks (and, coincidentally, mother of reporter Sally Patterson), came along for the visit with the journalists.

Laura talked about Mitzvah Day and Andre, Sally and Nathalie talked about how the newspaper is run and some recent stories that they have covered. They also engaged in a lively discussion with tenants and answered their questions about a number of local issues such as pavements, bus stops and transport as well as topics including Iranian-British citizen, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, her husband Richard and the issues she is facing in Iran.

jLiving provided sandwiches, cakes and drinks and everyone had a very enjoyable and thought-provoking day.
