We sat down with Marketing Subcommitee Member, Jeff Gale, to find out more about what attracted him to join the jLiving team, what he brings to the role and his hopes for jLiving over the next five years.
Getting to know… Jeff Gale
- What attracted you to become a Subcommittee member at jLiving?
Now that I have semi-retired, I was asked by a cousin if I would like to go onto the Marketing Subcommittee and help wherever my years of experience could be useful. I was delighted to accept the request.
- How long have you been involved with the organisation?
It’s coming up to three years.
- What do you feel you bring to the role of Subcommittee member?
Having worked for multi-national corporate clients for many years, it’s nice to bring my marketing skills to jLiving whenever they are relevant, e.g. with the new website.
- Did you always have a particular interest in social housing and if so, what is the background to that?
No, I didn’t but I am pleased to offer my time whenever there is anything I can do to help.
- Do you think there are issues or challenges in providing good quality social housing and what are they?
I am sure there are many issues and no doubt in today’s environment it can be very challenging.
- Are there any other organisations providing a similar service to the Jewish community? If so, how does jLiving’s offering differ?
While I am only aware of Jewish Care homes, in the time I have been involved with jLiving I am impressed with the professionalism of the team that run it.
- Do you think there is any stigma around social housing?
Not necessarily, social housing provides a valuable service to all kinds of people in all kinds of situations.
- What are your hopes and goals for jLiving for the next five years?
To continue to provide the service they currently offer and be able to take care of people who need their assistance.
- Tell us something about yourself that no-one would know!
My career for the last forty years has been as a conference producer. I have produced events all over the world for companies in automotive, oil, professional services, white goods, IT and pharmaceuticals. I have been married for fifty years, have two daughters and nine grandchildren!
