Board Member, Steve Newton, visited tenants at Lionel Leighton Court and Wolfson Court this week to share his knowledge and deliver a talk called
Won’t Get Scammed Again.
He explained: “A scam is a term used to describe any fraudulent scheme or confidence trick where dishonest groups, individuals, or companies take money or other goods from an unsuspecting person who believed the scheme to be legitimate.”
He added” Scams can take many forms and can encompass fraudulent websites, unsafe emails, unsolicited phone calls, fake social media adverts and fake online profiles. In this talk I look at each of these and explain what precautions can be taken in each case.”
Steve is a retired IT professional with 46 years’ experience. He now gives weekly talks online over Zoom and at his local library in person on a monthly basis. Steve is a Board member of jLiving.
