Tenants at two of our Schemes, Lionel Leighton Court and Wolfson Court, would agree to this after they were treated to an afternoon of jokes, fun and laughter in December.

They were presented with a talk all about American Jewish comedians by avid comedy record collector, Jeff, called ‘You don’t have to be Jewish’.

It was a huge success as tenants were entertained with clips from the likes of Myron Cohen, Mickey Katz, Mal Z Lawrence, Joan Rivers, Jackie Mason and Mel Brooks.

It was an education for some and a trip down memory lane for others with anecdotes about names and places from the past such as the Catskills Mountains resort and Borscht Belt hotels, located in the US state of New York, America, where many Jewish comedians and musicians started their career before becoming famous.
