From decorating Succah together to community kiddushes, afternoon tea and plenty of time spent chatting and celebrating, there have been lots of opportunities for tenants to come together and enjoy the festival.
Succot has certainly been a team effort at our Finchley scheme.
The jLiving Maintenance Team put up a small but perfectly formed Succah in the scheme’s gardens, ready for tenants to enjoy throughout the festival. Housing Manager Tanja then worked with tenants to decorate it beautifully, creating a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
Tanja also organised a fabulous afternoon tea to celebrate Succot. Tenants once again got involved, helping Tanja prepare for the celebration in the communal lounge. The result was a lovely afternoon filled with good food, conversation and plenty of festive spirit.
Tenant Jon also invited everyone to join him in the Succah for a special Kiddush on the first night of Succot.
Jon said: “Seven tenants joined me for Kiddush on the first night of Succot in our beautiful Succah, including three of our non-Jewish residents, who we explained the festival to and gave printed explanations about Succot.”
The group made Kiddush, lit candles and enjoyed challah and honey cake together.
The Succah has also proved to be a great place to welcome visitors. Over the weekend, tenants from Wolfson Court in Golders Green came to visit and enjoyed tea with the Finchley tenants in the Succah.
We look forward to hearing how other jLiving schemes are celebrating over the coming days, as Succot continues and we look ahead to Simchat Torah.
Chag Succot Sameach to all our tenants, staff, families and friends! 💜
