We caught up with Housing Manager, Maitland Joseph House, Cynthia to get to know her better.
Favourite thing about Winter? – Cosy nights in front of the television and enjoying the Christmas festivities.
If you were to dine in a restaurant what would be your favourite cuisine and what would you choose to eat? – My favourite cuisine is Chinese dishes – beef in black bean sauce with green peppers and white rice.
What did you want to be when you grew up? – A nurse in Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps.
If you were prime minister for the day, what laws would you pass? – A nationwide free bus and train travel pass for all school and college age children during term time.
What has been your favourite memory this year? – Celebrating my dad’s 88th birthday, in 2020 he had to have emergency surgery following a bleed on the brain and we did not think he would still be here with us.
What is the craziest/most daring thing you’ve ever done? – A helicopter flight over SeaWorld in Florida.
If you won the lottery how would you spend it? – I would buy a beautiful home and set up a wig making business for women who suffer alopecia.
If you didn’t live in London, where would you like to live? – I used to live in Fulham for ten years and moved to Hertfordshire in 2005 and love living there.
What animal would you like to be and why? – A cat, as I like the fact, they are independent and can survive most things.
Tell us something that nobody knows about you? – I met Terry Waite, the Anglican Church Envoy who was taken hostage in Lebanon for five years trying to negotiate the release of a journalist, when I worked in a public school in Barnes London – I served him lunch.
