January is traditionally a time for a fresh start and a chance to change your mind-set. You may already have some ideas for New Year’s resolutions: you may be planning on joining a gym, looking for a new job or career path or cutting back on the amount of junk food that you eat.
You may also be looking for ways in which you can improve your mental health in 2024.
Rather than the usual resolutions of getting fit, losing weight etc, why not think about your self-care and make a list of ways to boost your wellbeing, such as:
- Spending more quality time with loved ones
- Going for walks in the fresh air and enjoying nature
- Popping in for coffee with friends you haven’t seen for a while
- Making a gratitude list each morning
- Trying a new hobby or activity
- Joining a book club
- Limiting your screen time or you could even consider taking a break from social media
- Meditating or practising mindfulness.
Obviously, it would be too much to do all of them, but trying even some of these suggestions during the early months of 2024 could really help set you up on a new path for the rest of the year, so why not see how you get on?
Here are some of the New Year’s resolutions jLiving staff from the Maintenance and Repairs team have made for 2024:
- Plumber, Gary: “I have started running! I haven’t run for around ten years, but I am working towards running 10K by the end of the year.”
- Electrician, Jamie: “I hope to get my NVQ level 3 Electrical installation certificate this year.”
- Bhupendra, Compliance Officer: “I aim to be more compassionate, grateful, tolerant and humble this year.”
We wish everyone who has made a new year’s resolution lots of luck!
