One of the tenants, Nigel, at Lionel Leighton Court has been living at the jLiving Scheme for almost 40 years.
Having a conversation with him was very interesting as he highlighted how jLiving has helped him with his disability as he is a wheelchair user.
When asked why he first moved here and why he has stayed so long, he explained that the block was built to create Jewish housing for disabled people, specifically in this area of London. Nigel himself grew up in Edgware and worked in Kings Cross for Camden Council for a period before he retired around ten years ago.
What initially attracted Nigel to live at jLiving and sheltered housing was the aspect of the Jewish community, Nigel himself is not extremely observant but still enjoys the sense of community that this type of housing offers.
He also described his love for travel within our conversation, talking about his trips to New Zealand, Malaysia and more and how great it was that these trips were available for people with disabilities.
